Dorothy Ann "Dottie" McEntire

August 27, 1941 — February 21, 2024

Dorothy A. "Dottie" McEntire, 82, entered into eternal rest on February 21, 2024, at Fort Worth, Texas surrounded by her family. Born on August 27, 1941, in Lackawanna, New York, she was a woman of deep faith and boundless love for her family.

Dottie dedicated her life to the noble profession of nursing after completing her education at Weatherford College. Her career was marked by compassionate service in various hospitals, as a traveling nurse, and in private care, touching the lives of many with her kindness and expertise.

A devout Christian, Dottie found great comfort and community in her faith. Her life was a testament to her devotion to God and her family, which remained her greatest source of pride and joy.

She was a cherished mother to Donna, Donald, Diane, Tammy, Edward, and David, and a doting grandmother to Julie, John, Jennifer, Kimberly, Brooke, Adrianne, Kayla, Ashley, Destiny, Halee, Johnny, Jordon, Kara, Waylon, Jacie, Parker, and Tiffany, step grandchildren, Amber, Patricia, and Jessica. Dottie was also blessed with several great-grandchildren who will miss her dearly.

An enthusiastic reader, Dottie often found solace in the pages of her kindle, and she reveled in the excitement of playing online games. Her adventurous spirit was fulfilled through travel and visits to the casino, while her love for movies provided many hours of enjoyment.

Dottie's legacy is carried on by her loving family, including all her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren, and her sisters-in-law, Bernadette and Brenda, and brothers-in-law, Daniel and Dennis. She was predeceased by her beloved husband, John C. McEntire; mother, Ruth A. Dublino; stepsons, William and Anthony; and several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.

Honoring Dottie's request, no funeral services will be held. The Galbreaith Pickard Funeral Chapel in Weatherford, Texas, is providing care and guidance to the family during this time.

In remembrance of a life so beautifully lived, our family expresses their heartfelt gratitude for the thoughts and prayers extended to them. Dottie's memory will forever be cherished in the hearts of those she loved and served.

  A poem for our mother:

If Tears Could Build a Stairwell

If tears could build a stairwell

and memories were a lane,

I would walk right up to Heaven

and bring you home again.

No farewell words were spoken,

no time to say good-bye...

You were gone before I knew it,

and only God knows why.

My heart still aches in sadness

and secret tears still flow,

What it means to lose you

no one will ever know.
