Douglas Earl Story, 83, passed away on Thursday October 26, 2006 in a local hospital. He was a resident of Parker County for many years and a retired Army Veteran. Mr. Story joined the Army in 1941 with the 83rd Field Artillery. He then switched from horses to helicopters in the late 50’s. In his 20 years in the Army he had a diverse career. He was a paratrooper in the 82nd Airborne Division, and was in the first class of the 10th Special Forces (which later became known as the Green Berets.) Mr. Story then ended his military career as a Flight Instructor at Fort Wolters, in Mineral Wells after more than 20 years of distinguished service. After retiring, he worked at Southern Airways as a Flight Instructor, and with Bell Helicopter International in Iron. He then retired to become a farmer on his 5 acres. Preceded in death : father-John Story, Step-Mother-Florance Story and a brother-Bill Story. Survivors: Wife- Josephine Story, and Daughter- Shannon Story. Graveside service will be at 10 AM on Monday October 30, 2006 at the DFW National Cemetery.
