Edith Aline Dee-Dee Hindelang McFarling age 92 of Weatherford, went to be with the Lord on October 29, 2017. Edith was born April 11, 1925 in San Antonio to Peter Paul Hindelang and Edith Edna Koble Hindelang. She was the 6th and last child born to Edith and Peter. Dee-Dee spent most of her life as a resident of Texas, only residing out of the state for a few years while living in New Mexico and Arizona.
She married the love of her life William Arthur McFarling II on April 13, 1946 and was married for 55 years until he passed on September 13, 2001. Her favorite story is that she met her husband in jail. She worked for his dad, who was the sheriff of Alamo Heights. Grandpa Mac brought Bill to meet his secretary, Aline, and it was “love at first sight” After marrying Bill, she worked as an executive secretary to the president of Prudential Insurance in San Antonio. The family moved several times due to Bill’s career but she always made a home wherever they lived.
She and Bill were charter members of St. Andrew Presbyterian Church in El Paso, Texas and faith was an important part of their life. Dee-Dee remained active in the local church each time they moved. She was always involved in the church, including the women’s circles, bible studies, prayer chains and all social events. She effectively used her gifts from God, hospitality and intercessory. Her biggest and brightest gift was the gift of prayer. She was truly one that prayed without ceasing. She loved and trusted Jesus with her whole heart and counted on him to provide for her at all times. There was never a time that her family had any doubt who her savior and provider was.
Our most cherished memories will be of her taking care of the family. She would get up in the middle of the night to cook for a bunch of teenagers, she would take us anywhere we needed to be, and she was always home when we got home from school. One of the most honored memories was her sitting in her chair praying for her family, friends and our nation. She used to kneel beside her bed and pray, and as she got older she would sit and pray, towards the end she would sit and lean against her walker and pray. We will always be honored that she was our mother, and forever thankful for her faithful prayers.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Husband, William Arthur McFarling II. Brothers, Ralph Hindelang, Paul Hindelang, and sisters, Edna, Helen and Ruth.
