Edith Jessie Cox, 95, of Weatherford, passed away Thursday, August 21, 2008, in Weatherford, Texas. Edith was born on October 8, 1912, in Cumberland County, Illinois, daughter of William Comer and Jacie O’Della Easton.
Edith was united in marriage at Toledo, Illinois, to Willis Clay Cox of Lanis, Indiana, on November 22, 1932. To this union four children were born, Mary, Marceda, Harvey, and Dennis. Willis and Edith made their home in Van Buren, Indiana and relocated to Casey, Illinois in 1977. Willis passed away July 2, 1982 and Edith relocated to Weatherford in January 2001.
Edith was a homemaker, a member of the Brethren Church in Casey, Illinois, she loved to read the Bible, sing hymns, and spending time with her grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Willis; daughter, Marceda Ramsdale; and son, Dennis Cox; two brothers; and five sisters.
Survivors: daughter, Mary Laymon and husband, Lee of Raleigh, North Carolina; son, Harvey Cox and wife, Charlotte of Weatherford, Texas; sister, Faye O’Dell of Casey, Illinois. Also surviving are ten grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, and seven great-great grandchildren.
Funeral service 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, August 26, 2008, in Van Buren, Indiana.
