Edna Iris Garza-Escobedo

Dr. Edna Iris Garza-Escobedo, 79, of Weatherford was called home to our Lord on March 26, 2019 in Dallas. She was born August 5, 1939 in Brownsville, Texas to Salvador and Anita Garza. She received her BS and MA degrees from TWU and her Doctorate in Nursing from Ohio State University. Edna shared her knowledge and love of Nursing with her students for over 50 years most recently at Weatherford College. Edna also served as a missionary in Mexico, Egypt and Peru.
After a 32 year separation, she reunited and married her high school sweetheart, Romeo Escobedo, Sr., they shared 32 years of happiness together.
Edna was preceded in death by her parents.
She leaves behind her husband, Romeo; beloved brother, Daniel Garza and wife Florence; nephews, David Garza, Peter Garza and wife Megumi and their children, Maya and Eli; her children by marriage, Romeo Escobedo and wife Norma, Sally Munoz and Omar Gonzalez, Sylvia Gonzales and husband Thomas; grandchildren, Amanda Escobedo, Stephanie Kaiser and husband Mark, Joe Munoz,III, Jonell Henry and husband Dee, Thomas Gonzales, Rafael Gonzales, Samantha Anderson, Marcus Jett and Alisha Furlong; great grandchildren, Gabrien Jace Henry, Sasha and Grover Mahne, Anthony, Gabriella and Eliana Jett.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
