Edward Franklin McCarty, III, age 80, passed from this life on Thursday, August 29, 2024. Born September 14, 1943, in East Chicago, Illinois, to Edward McCarty, II and Phyllis (Hardy) McCarty, Edward served his country in the United States Navy for three years. Following his military career, he worked for a barrel company in Washington, Illinois, then transferred to Indianapolis, Indiana, and retired in 2010. After retirement, he moved to Texas and became a truck driver. Edward was of the Lutheran faith and enjoyed studying the Bible. He liked to snow ski, scuba dive, use Morse code, and drive neat cars.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Jonathan Michael McCarty.
Edward is survived by his siblings, Elaine Schneider, Bruce McCarty and wife, Gail, and Kathyleen McCarty; and sister-in-law, Nancy McCarty.
Also left to honor his memory are many nephews, nieces, and their spouses, Mike (Amy) McCarty, Patrick McCarty, Phillip (Teresa) Grant, Chris (Sherry) Grant, Leslie Grant, Jeff Schneider, and Robyn McCarty; and great nephew and nieces, Harrison McCarty, Brandon Grant, Dakota Grant, Audrey Grant, Madeline Grant, Nicolas Grant, Chloe Schneider, Lexie Schneider, Gavin Westinghouse, and Kayla Westinghouse.
A graveside service with military honors will begin at 9:15 a.m., Monday, September 9, 2024, at the Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery.
