Edward Norman Smith passed from this life on August 27th, 2022. Ed was born in Weatherford, Texas, on December 20, 1925. He lived and worked in Weatherford all his life until he and Dollie moved to Paris, Texas, in 2003. Later he and Dollie moved to Waxahachie, Texas.

Ed joined the military when he was 17. Eventually he served in the Navy and Marines as a medic. He served in the Pacific Theater and was wounded at Iwo Jima and later he was shot at Guam. Ed was awarded three Purple Hearts for his service and sacrifices.

Edward loved his family and especially his great grandchildren. Nothing was more enjoyable to him than to see his "kids" playing on the floor around him.

Edward was preceded in death by his wife, Dollie Mae Smith; his brother, Bill Smith; his parents, Albert Smith and Jessie Smith Hall; and two grandsons, CJ and Kevin Wood.

He is survived by his son, Rev. James Edward Smith and his wife, Susan; Edward's daughter, Sandra Wood and her husband, Curtis; his two grandchildren, Kristal Smith Byars and husband, Sean, and Brandon Smith and wife, Sharayah; along with five great-grandchildren, Dylan and Ashlyn Byars, and Liliya, Gabriella, and Selah Smith; and many nieces and nephews.

Edward loved his church. His favorite Bible scripture was Psalms 23 "The Lord is my Shepherd..." A true warrior of the Lord.
