Elaine Beth Cox

February 17, 1941 — December 28, 2012

Elaine Beth Cox, 71, passed away Friday, 12/28/2012 in a local nursing home.  Elaine was a member of and has been active in First Baptist Church of Weatherford since 1964. She attended college at Hardin Simmons for two years, then transferred to Mid- Western University in Wichita Falls, Texas, where she earned a bachelor’s degree. She taught at Weatherford High School for fourteen years before retiring in 1978. She also volunteered in the Weatherford Independent School District until 1996.  For the last 21 years one of her passions has been dance, especially clogging.  She’s been the reporter for the local Pioneers square dance club for several years.  Not only did she teach clogging with the Klassy Kloggers, she formed her own clogging group, The Texas Wildflower Cloggers which is still going strong today.
A little known fact is that not long after living in Weatherford, she earned her private aircraft pilot’s license.
Elaine is survived by her husband, Ernest Fred Cox, son, Jay Cox of Weatherford, sister, Jeanine Lewis of Columbus, Kansas, brother, Brown Rowell of Ingleside, Texas. She is preceded by her parents, W.D. “Jimmy” and Veda Ethel Rowell.

Services will be held at 10:00 am, at the First Baptist Church of
Weatherford, Wednesday, 1/2/2013. Interment will be at Annetta Cemetery.

Visitation will be Tuesday, 1/1/2013 from 5:00 to 7:30 pm at the funeral home.
