Ellen “Donnell” Doss, 85, of Weatherford, passed away peacefully early on Sunday, February 11, 2018, at Holland Lake Nursing Home in Weatherford.
Funeral services celebrating her life will be held at 2 P.M., on Wednesday, February 14, 2018, at North Side Baptist Church, 910 N. Main Street, in Weatherford. Burial will follow at East Greenwood Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be held from 6 until 8 P.M., Tuesday, February 13, at the Galbreaith Pickard Funeral Home, 913 N. Elm Street, in Weatherford.
Donnell was born on November 4, 1932 in Parker County to John Mims and Atrell Walker. She married Dan Doss on August 1, 1952 and together had 5 children. Donnell worked for Southwestern Bell Telephone in the 1950’s and developed many long-lasting friendships while working there. She was known to volunteer for ‘everything’ including the Ladies Auxiliary at the Weatherford Fire Department, the Eastern Star where she served as Worthy Matron, DAR, and pursuing her passion for genealogy including reading the many gravestones at the local cemeteries and providing those records to the local library. Most of all, Donnell will be affectionately remembered for being a devoted and loving wife, mother, and grandmother.
Donnell is survived by her children, Abbe and husband Lisle, Neal and wife Brenda, and Gene and wife Jennifer; grandchildren, Micheal, Krystopher, Miranda Doss, and Tom and wife Valerie Gould; great-grandchildren, Calab, Declan, and Harper; sister, Rilda and husband Travis Horner; and by her sisters-in-law, Bonita Walker and Glynda Mann.
In addition to her parents, Donnell was preceded in death by her husband, Dan Doss; her children, Johnny Doss and Dana Doss-McLaughlin; her grandson, J.D. Doss; and by her brother, Waymon Walker.
