Elton Lee Durant, 87, passed away at home December 3, 2010. He was born October 8, 1923, in Buffalo, Texas, to Ben F. Durant and Clara Durant.
Elton served in WW II as a Merchant Marine in the North Atlantic, Alaska and France on D-Day. While docked in Barry, South Wales he met the love of his life and wife of 65 years, Lucy. They married July 4, 1945. After moving to Weatherford in 1951 he was employed at General Dynamics in Fort Worth. In the early 1960’s he took over as manager of the Jamison Egg Farm (later Hisey Egg Farms) until starting Durant’s Automotive with his two sons.
Mr. Durant was preceded in death by his parents; son, Duane; brother, Lawrence; and granddaughter, Sheila.
Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Lucy; son, Paul and wife, Joan of Weatherford; brothers, Franklin C. and wife, Dorothy, James L. and wife, Mable, Melton E. and wife, Evelyn, Reagan H. and wife, Barbara, and Robert Alton and wife, Billie Dean; sisters, Annie Mae and husband, John, Virginia and husband, David, and Bennie Faye Stafford; brother-in-law, William Braund and wife, Joyce of England; grandchildren, Kristi, Doug, Richard, Stefenie, Michael, Marion; and eleven great grandchildren.
The family will hold a memorial service.
