Elva A. Stroud (Pappy) 92, of Weatherford passed away Friday June 24, 2016 at his residence. Funeral service: 1 PM, Monday, June 27, 2016 at Galbreaith Pickard Funeral Chapel with interment to follow in East Greenwood. Visitation: 3-5 PM, Sunday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Greenwood Volunteer Fire Department or charity of choice. Elva was born April 12, 1924 in Weatherford, Texas to William (Bill) and Jessie Carter Stroud. He owned Jay’s Auto Parts for over 35 years. Elva was a member of First Baptist Church in Weatherford and was a Master Mason member of Phoenix Masonic Lodge #275 for over 60 years. He was a carpenter at heart, always fixing things, an excellent marksman and enjoyed drinking coffee with his buddies. Two of his proudest accomplishments were being married to the love of his life for 67 years and obtaining his pilot’s license. Elva was preceded in death by his parents, his beautiful wife Wendolyn Stroud and three brothers, Marshall, Acey and Kenneth. Survivors include his children, Cynthia Stroud-Pigg and husband Bobby of Granbury and David Stroud of Weatherford; grandson, Robert Casey Stroud and wife Emily; great grandchildren, Avery and Graham.
