Ernestine Carr Moore

Ernestine Carr Moore, born October 19, 1936, passed away on Wednesday. She was a sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and teacher. Born in Lamesa, Texas, to Ernest and Amanda Carr, Ernestine was the fifth of five children. Her siblings and lifelong best friends were Frances, Elda, Juanita, and Royce. She married her high school sweetheart, Orval Moore, June 17, 1955. They were married 63 years, until his death in 2018. She had three children: Dwight, Janese and Amanda. While raising her three kids, mostly in Hobbs, NM, she continued her education and earned a Master of Business degree from Eastern NM University. She taught at the New Mexico Junior College until her retirement in 2003. Ernestine and Orval relocated to Azle, Texas in 2007, to be closer to family. Ernestine spent every Friday morning at Dorothy’s Beauty Shop, having her hair set with her sister Elda, her favorite weekly activity. Following Orval’s death she moved to Weatherford, Texas. After recent health issues and a sudden decline, she passed away March 23, 2022. She was 85 years old. She was preceded in death by her parents, sisters Frances and Juanita, husband Orval, son Dwight and granddaughter Allison. She is survived by her sister Elda, brother Royce, daughters Janese and Amanda and their families, and Dwight’s family.

Visitation: 9am Friday, March 25, 2022 at Galbreaith Pickard Funeral Chapel with a funeral service beginning at 10 am.
