Eva Earl Kelley was born August 18, 1936, to Earl and Ruth Kelley. After living in the Greenwood area of Parker County her family moved to Weatherford in the early 1940’s to a house at 209 W Russell that remains in her name to this day. A Weatherford High School graduate she, along with her volleyball teammates from 1953, was inducted into the Weatherford High School Hall of Fame - class of 2011.
In 1957 she married Ernie B. Rutledge, her husband of 53 years, and they had two children, daughter Kellie, born in 1961, and son Eric, born in 1967. In her early years she worked as an educator, an associate of Mutual Building and Loan and at General Dynamics, but it was in the early 1970’s that she found her true lifelong passion - Real Estate.
Serving as a director, secretary, treasurer, and eventually the President of the Weatherford Board of Realtors - she used these opportunities to give back to her fellow Realtors but also cultivated an atmosphere of camaraderie and professionalism among her peers.
Instrumental in both the remodels of the Texas Capital and the Parker County Courthouse along with the deep love of the Greenwood Community and the cemetery in particular, she was always civic minded and instilled that in her children. Through the years Eva Earl owned several offices solely or in partnership with other successful women Realtors and helped in transitioning women of Parker County into leaders of businesses in a mostly male dominated profession.
Retiring in 2018 she remained a valuable resource for information for her daughter in law, Amy Rutledge; grandson, Chase Rutledge; and granddaughter in law, Cheyanne Wilson, who also have their license. She was a tireless advocate of her profession, the Greenwood Cemetery Association, and a loving and giving mother and grandmother. To say we will miss her and love her seems a mild understatement but we know it is only temporary and will meet again.
Eva Earl was preceded in death by her parents, Earl and Ruth Kelley; husband, Ernie B. Rutledge; daughter, Kellie Rutledge Wilson; and brother, Jerry Kelley.
She is survived by her younger brother, Rodney Kelley and wife, Elizabeth; son, Eric and wife, Amy; grandsons, Reis Wilson and wife, Cheyanne, and Chase Rutledge and wife, Allie; granddaughter, Haley Rutledge Walker and husband, Kevin. She is also survived by five great-grandsons, one great-granddaughter, three nephews, two nieces, and many great nephews, nieces, and numerous cousins.
