Evelyn Irene Gilmore Ellis received her angel wings on Easter morning, April 8th, 2012. She was born in Chanute, Ks on Jan 17th, 1925 to Albert and Avis Gilmore, second born of six children.
Proceeded in death by daughter, Patricia Ann Burris and three brothers, Glen, Lloyd and Boyd Gilmore.
Those left to cherish her memory are: son, David Adams of Ft. Worth and a daughter, Sharon Mitts of Weatherford, brother, William J. Gilmore of Prairie Village, Ks and a sister, Wanda Jean Reed of Kaysville, Utah. Mrs. Ellis had eight grandchildren and ten great grandchildren as well as many adopted ones.
Mrs. Ellis was a long time resident of Weatherford, a long standing member of Santa Fe Baptist Church. A resident of Parkview Terrace, she was well recognized at the Parker County Senior Center and participated in many of the events over the years. She was very proud to dress bears one year for abused children in connection with Parker County Child Protection. She was a member of a local Red Hat group as well as a few other organizations.
She was referred to as "Miss Evelyn" by many who knew her. She had a big heart, generous and always willing to do her part, a wonderful mother, grandmother and friend. She would listen to others problems and be that shoulder to cry on whenever it was needed. A dear lady who will be sorely missed.
A funeral service will take place at 11 a.m. Thursday at Santa Fe
Baptist Church. Burial will be in Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Montague
County at 3:30 p.m. Visitation is from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the
funeral home.
