Floyd Austin Woolsey

Austin Woolsey passed away peacefully October 1, 2020, at the Avalon Memory Care Center in Arlington, Texas. He was born May 11, 1925, in Weatherford, Texas, the son of Herschel and Edna Woolsey.

Austin graduated from Weatherford High School in 1943 and was immediately drafted into military service. He served two years in the Army Air Corp in Europe during WWII. After serving his county, he returned to Weatherford and married his high school sweetheart Mary Neely. They were together for almost 70 years until her death in 2015.

He worked at C D Hartnett for twenty-five years as head of purchasing. He went on to later own and run several different businesses in Groves, Texas and Arlington, Texas. He was active throughout his life in serving the Lord, acting as a deacon in four different churches. Other activities that he loved were fishing, golfing and he especially loved playing dominos, which he did almost to the end of his life.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Mary; his brother, Doug Woolsey; and sister, Betty Woolsey. Surviving Austin, are his son, Bob Woolsey and his wife, Duonna of Arlington, Texas; two grandchildren, Angela Woolsey and Ryan Woolsey of Arlington; sister, Nelda Paschal of Dennis, Texas; and sister-in-law, Virginia Woolsey of Arlington; many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, October 6, 2020, at Galbreaith Pickard Funeral Chapel, 913 Elm, Weatherford, Texas, with funeral services to follow at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Memorial Gardens, Weatherford.

Officiating will be Dr. J.T. Gross and Pastor David Jenkins. Honorary pallbearers are James Woolsey, Randy Paschal, Ricky Paschal, Darrel Neely, Jimmy Stroud, and Tommy Barker.
