  Fred Davies, 81, of Weatherford, Texas, passed away June 18, 2019. He was born September 25, 1937, in Greenwich, Connecticut.

  Fred was an outstanding athlete at Stamford High School, where he played baseball and was a fullback on the football team.

  After graduation, Fred went into the Marine Corp. He spent time in Japan and Korea. He was trained as a sharpshooter. When he was discharged, he attained the rank of Sergeant.

  November 7, 1964, he married Mary. He went to work as a truck driver. After 27 years, he retired from Jack Cooper. Fred was a gold card member of the PRCA. As a youngster, he rode bulls. He matured into a calf roper and a bull dogger. Later, he became a regular at the senior team roping. He was also a lifetime member of the Parker County Sheriff’s Posse. 

  Fred always had a contagious smile, an incredible sweet tooth, and a knack for conversation. He loved his time spent with friends and family. He adored his five grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.

  Fred is survived by his loving wife, Mary, of 54 years; his daughter and son-in-law, Lisa and Michael Smith; sons and daughters-in-law, Ray and Mary Arnold and Doug and Robin Arnold; and two sisters, Doreen Karcher and Lynn Davies.

  A memorial will be held for Fred on Saturday, June 29, at 10:00 a.m., at Holders Chapel United Methodist Church, 501 Holders Chapel Rd, Weatherford, Texas.

  No flowers please.
