Frederick “Fred” LeRoy McKenzie, age 84, of Lipan, passed away peacefully at his home February 11, 2019. Fred was born April 24, 1934 in South Bend, IN to Raymond and Arhetta McKenzie. He enlisted in the Air Force as a young man and found his love for computers when he started working as a Computer Programmer for the Department of Defense where he later retired. Fred was also a long time Mason serving for almost 50 years alongside his Mason Brothers. He was a strong committed Christian man and an active member of New River Fellowship. His hobbies included tinkering with computers, bowling, playing golf, and a good day of fishing. Fred is survived by his wife, Kathleen “Kath” McKenzie of Lipan; children, Beki Jones of Grapevine, Christie Rose and husband George of Watauga, MaryAnne Cavignac and husband Michel of France, Gregg McKenzie and wife, Amy Jo of Tolar, Karri O’Connor of Galveston, and Scott Marshall of Weatherford; sisters, Carol Anderson, Barbara Brookshire, Lorraine Bliley, and Kathy Miller; brother, Curtis McKenzie; grandchildren, Terie, Mike, Jason, David, Nickolas, Chase, Brenton, Abigayle, Austin, Callie, Nick, Jack, Steffan, and Tamra,; great grandchildren, Tyler, Kaylin, Aden, Alanna, Josie, Jaydin, Ryalynn, Raeven, and Agathe. He is preceded in death by his son, Larry McKenzie; sisters, Joyce and Margie; and his brother, Bob. A Memorial Service will be held at Galbreaith Pickard Hilltop Chapel 4941 I-20 Willow Park on Saturday, February 23, 2019, at 2pm with a reception to follow. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the American Cancer Society or The Wounded Warrior Project.
