G. Parker Blair, 86, went home to be with his Lord on Wednesday morning, July 22, in Weatherford.
Visitation will be held on Sunday afternoon, July 26, 2020, from 3 until 5 P.M., at the Galbreaith Pickard Funeral Chapel, 913 N. Elm Street, in Weatherford. Funeral services will be held at 11 A.M., Monday, July 27, at Brock Baptist Church in Brock, Texas. Burial will follow at Brock Cemetery.
Parker was born on March 19, 1934, in Hawley, Texas. He was one of four children born to Lonnie and Gladys Blair. Parker proudly served his country in the U.S. Army. On July 1, 1972, Parker married Peggy Woodruff-Nottingham. He was a store manager for Sears & Roebuck for over 32 years, prior to his retirement. He was a member of Brock Baptist Church where he and served as a Deacon and a Sunday School Teacher. He also served on the board of the Parker County Baptist Association. Additionally, he served on the board for the Parker County Election Commissions. He enjoyed fishing, playing dominoes, traveling, and bowling. Parker enjoyed watching professional sports – particularly the Dallas Cowboys and the Texas Rangers. Most of all, Parker will be remembered for his love and devotion to his family.
Parker is survived by his wife, Peggy of 48 years; his children, Barbara Scarbrough, Betty Blair, Donald Patrick Blair, and Jimmy Blair; his stepchildren, Eddie Woodruff and Paula Dowling; 11 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and by his sister, Janice Spears.
In addition to his parents, Parker was preceded in death by his daughter, Mildred Blair and by his sister, LaVerne Lambert and his brother, Donald Blair.
