Gary Allen Blum was born on July 26, 1944, in Fort Worth, Texas, to Sol Blum and Etta Belle (Siegel) Blum. He passed away on March 1, 2024, in Fort Worth.
He is survived by his beloved wife of thirty-two years, Vivian M. Blum; daughter, Debbie Blum Lemons and husband, Paul Lemons; grandchildren, Grant Yarbrough and Brian Yarbrough; sister-in-law, Charlotte Mashaw; and his nephew, John Taylor Rich. Gary was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Bobby Blum; and by his son, Brian Blum.
Gary attended and graduated from Peacock Military Academy in San Antonio, Texas, where later in life he served as a board member of the alumni association and was an officer at the time of his death. He also attended the University of Texas at Arlington for several years. He enjoyed spending time with his friends and family at his home on Possum Kingdom Lake. He was an avid snow skier, scuba diver, hunter, and fisherman. To escape the cold in north Texas he vacationed with friends and other winter Texans in Edinburg. He began his work career with his father at the family-owned business, Tarrant Rendering and while there he served as an officer in the National Renderers Association and past President of the Texas Renderers Association.
Visitation for Gary will begin on Wednesday, March 6, 2024, at 6:00 p.m., at Galbreaith Pickard Funeral Chapel, in Weatherford. A graveside service will be held on Thursday, March 7, 2024, at 2:00 p.m., at Bethesda Cemetery, in Garner.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Peacock Military Academy Alumni Scholarship Fund.
Arrangements are under the direction of Galbreaith Pickard Funeral Chapel.
