Gary Dean Ewing, 83, of Weatherford, passed away Wednesday morning, December 28, 2016.
A memorial service celebrating his life will be held at 2 PM on Wednesday, January 4, 2017 at Lakeshore Drive Baptist Church. Interment will be at 11 AM, Thursday, January 12, at Aline Star Cemetery in Aline, Oklahoma. A luncheon will follow the committal service.
Gary was born April 16, 1933 in Aline, Oklahoma to Bud and Agnes Ewing. He married Lenna Dean and together had two children, Kathy and Bret. Gary proudly served his country in the USAF from 1953 until 1957 reaching the rank as Staff Sargent. Gary received his Bachelors Degree from Oklahoma State University in Engineering and had a rewarding 32 year career with the FAA. He was a long-time member of Compass Church in Collyville and most recently of Lake Shore Drive Baptist Church. Gary had a passion for motorcycles and thoroughly enjoyed rebuilding his Honda 1000 Goldwing and was member of the Koinonia Riders Chapter 476 and the Christians Motorcycle Association. Additionally, Gary was a private pilot and enjoyed skiing and traveling the United States. Most of all, Gary cherished time spent with this family.
Gary is survived by his wife Lenna; children, Kathy Westerfield and Bret (Carrie) Ewing; grandchildren, Tinley (Chris) Innes, Chelsea (Ryan) Carver, John Paul (Lizzy) Ewing, Lucas Ewing, and Benjamin (Cassidy) Ewing; great-grandchildren, Chase Innes, Caden Innes, Ben Carver, Blake Carver, and Bernhard Ewing; and by his sisters, Colleen Nelson, Connie Schlarb, and Judy Bouse.
In addition to his parents, Gary was preceded in death by his grandson, Douglas Westerfield and by his sisters, Bobbie Carlson and Kay Doane.
