James Gary Sipes, Sr. (73) of Millsap, left for his heavenly home on Saturday, December 14, 2024, with his family by his side after surviving prostate cancer and a courageous battle with bladder cancer.
He was born July 11, 1951, to James William “Curly” Sipes and Georgia Faye Little Sipes. He worked many jobs in his life. In many cases, he only left the company because they shutdown including NL Acme Tool, Master Shield, and Jump King Trampoline. He retired in 2002 after a myelogram test for a back injury left him in a coma and then with paralysis from his waist down. The doctors told him he would never walk again on his own, but he disagreed, and after lots of physical therapy and hard work he proved them wrong.
He and his wife, Cindy, enjoyed camping, fishing, and running a trotline. After catching and cleaning the fish, they would have a fish fry for anyone that wanted to come. He was an amazing dad, and he believed in teaching his kids how to do everything he could. He always said anyone can pay someone to do something, but you take pride in things when you do them yourself. We are thankful for the knowledge he gave us. He was a fun-loving, goofy Paw-Paw, and never missed the opportunity to dance around or put on silly hats, glasses, or even wigs, to make the grandkids and great grandkids laugh. He also loved animals, especially dogs, and he always had a dog to spoil. Most of all, he loved the Lord; he was an active member of Grace Baptist Church where he shared his love for Jesus with all of us.
Those we love don’t go away; they walk beside us every day. Unseen, unheard but always near, still loved, still missed, and held so dear.
He is survived by his children, James Gary Sipes, Jr. and Amanda Leann Sipes; his grandkids, Mariah Montelongo, Lynzi Plowman, Ethan Seymore, Aiden Sipes, Aubrey Sipes, Lukas Sipes, and Savannah Sipes; his great grandchildren, Harper and Harrison Plowman, and Hayden and Hadley Montelongo; along with numerous nieces and nephews; and lastly, his dog, Molly. Although she will be cared for, we will never be as good as him.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Cynthia “Cindy” Sipes; and his sisters, Bobbie Faye Cook, Sandra Smith, and Belinda Ray.
