It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Gary Duane Utley, a beloved uncle, brother, father, grandfather, and friend, who passed away at the age of 82, on the 22nd of January 2025.
Born in Lawton, Oklahoma, on December 11th, 1942, Gary served his country honorably as a U.S. Air Force Vietnam Veteran. He found joy and solace on the golf course, where his love for the game became a defining part of his later years. A fierce competitor, Gary nearly clinched victory at the prestigious Texas Open, a testament to both his skill and determination. Also, he completed The Big Texan 72oz steak challenge with plenty of time to spare.
He is survived by his sister and her husband, Dawn and Tommy Hancock; daughter and husband, April and David Moore; granddaughters, Kelsey Moore and Shelbie and Kevin Underwood; great granddaughter, Helen; son, Ross Utley and his wife, Carrie; granddaughters, Jenny, Emma, and Lila; and son, Clint Utley.
Preceded in death by his mother and father, Ella and Frank, and brothers, David Utley and Jim Utley.
A memorial service will be held on the 4th of February 2025, at 10:00 a.m., at Greenwood Baptist Church, in Weatherford, Texas, with military honors to follow at the Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery.
He will be deeply missed by all who knew him, but his spirit will live on in the hearts of his family and friends.
