George Godfrey

George Godfrey, 82, of Weatherford passed away Sunday, September 28, 2009.  Mr. Godfrey was born in Enid, Oklahoma November 5, 1926 to Bruce Lee and Madonna Bovell Godfrey.  George attended Phillips University and graduated from Enid Business College.
He was a proud Veteran of WW II, having served the USA in the South Pacific.
George’s job with a construction company took him all over the US.  He spent many years in Hawaii before coming back to Enid to help care for his parents.  At that time he became a dispatcher for the Oklahoma Highway Patrol where he worked until his retirement.
He came to Weatherford in 1985 to be near family.  As an active participant in activities at the Senior Center, he made many friends in this area.
George was preceded in death by his parents, and cousin Elsie Pitts.
He is survived by one brother, Bruce Lee Godfrey Jr. of El Paso; nephew, Bruce Lee Godfrey III and his family of El Paso; niece, Patricia Manke and family of Bethesda Maryland; cousin, Leann and Don Kuykendall of Weatherford, and many special friends and extended family members.

At George’s request, no services will be held. We ask that all of our dear friends who wish to remember him do so in whatever way they feel most fitting.
