Georgia Faye (Johnson) Rhodes, 88, passed away Friday, July 21, 2017. She was born August 30, 1928 on the Cartwright Ranch to Floyd and Ivy (McMahon) Johnson. She attended grade school at Herring Hightower in the edge of Hood County. Georgia graduated from Weatherford High School in 1945 and went on to what was at that time Texas State College for Women (TWU) where she received her B.S. Degree in Foods and Nutrition in 1949. After graduation she managed the college cafeteria, in Denton, for one year. Then for the next two years she was full time dietitian for the White Oak Public Schools in Longview.
On August 1, 1952 she and Arnie Rhodes were married and mostly lived at Tin Top for 52 plus years when Arnie passed away March 23, 2005. Between 1952 and 1974 she spent her time with Armie and their two sons Brack and Kim as full time wife and mother.
In 1974 Georgia became a dietary consultant for many nursing homes and hospitals in the surrounding areas, including the Cox nursing homes in Weatherford, Mineral Wells, Jacksboro and other nursing homes in Breckenridge, Graham, Jacksboro and Mineral Wells, as well as, the Jacksboro hospital and Campbell Hospital.
In 1996 Georgia retired and again became full time wife, mother, and grandmother by then.
Georgia was a faithful member of the Windmill Church of Christ from its beginning in 1985.
She is survived by sons, Brack Rhodes and wife Connie, and Kim Rhodes; grandchildren, Katie and husband Dan Hardick, Kristi Rhodes, Kyler and wife Michelle Rhodes, and Meghan Rhodes; great-grandchildren, James Autry and Brack Daniel.
Visitation will be 6-8 pm Monday at Galbreaith-Pickard Funeral Chapel. Funeral Services will be 10 am, Tuesday, July 25 at Windmill Church of Christ with burial following at Tin Top Cemetery.
