Gerald A. "Pop" Turner, 77, passed away Monday, May 17th, 2010, at his home in Granbury Texas. Born on February 23rd, 1933, in Fort Worth, to Walter and Virgie Turner. Gerald was the second oldest of seven children and grew up in Fort Worth.
Gerald began working in the concrete business at an early age and retired as a superintendent from Potter Concrete after 16 years of service. He was nicknamed "Pop" by his co-workers and was known for the catch phrase "hook and pull." He was a 30 year Gold card concrete mason local #549. He was loved by many and will be greatly missed but never forgotten.
Preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Virgie Turner; sister, Addy Turner; and three brothers, Carlos, Tommy, and Charles Turner.
Survived by his wife of 33 years, Virginia Turner of Granbury; sons, Thomas Turner and his wife, Darnelle of California, and James Turner and his wife, Charlotte of Grand Prairie; daughters, Regina Garner of Granbury, and Geraldine Burns and husband, Gary Burns of Arlington; a total of nine grand children and five great grand children; and one brother, Johnny Turner of Fort Worth; sister, Beverly Turner of Weatherford; and sister-in-law, Shella Turner of Peaster; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, May 19, 2010, in the Galbreaith Pickard Funeral Chapel, with interment following in Memory Gardens. Visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, at the funeral home.
