Gertrude Thompson

Gertrude (Ruland) Thompson, beloved mother and grandmother, departed peacefully from this life on Tuesday, November 22, 2022, at age 77. Gertrude was born January 24, 1945, to Finis Ruland and Gladys (Pieratt) Ruland in Weatherford, Texas. She had a creative spirit and was an accomplished artist. Gertrude was also a skilled seamstress and enjoyed crocheting. Family was of great importance to her. She especially loved her role as “Granny." Gertrude treasured her children, grandchildren, and her puppies, embracing every moment with them they gave her hours of intense happiness. Gertrude will be sorely missed by all.

Gertrude is survived by her son, Jeff Thompson and wife, Janetta of Poolville, Texas; son, Chris Thompson of Poolville, Texas; stepdaughter, Nita Withers and husband, Richie of Peaster, Texas; stepson, I.W. Queen; six grandchildren, David, Amanda, James, Caydence, Devin, and Brayden; and two great grandchildren. All of these she loved dearly.

Gertrude was preceded in death by her parents and two husbands, James Kenworthy Thompson and I.W. Queen, Jr.

A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, November 26, 2022, at Galbreaith Pickard Funeral Chapel, 913 North Elm Street, Weatherford, Texas 76086. She will be laid to rest at Memory Gardens Cemetery. Visitation will begin an hour prior to the funeral service at the funeral chapel.
