Gloria J. Bridges

Gloria J. Bridges, 89, passed from this life on Saturday, March 11, 2023.

Gloria was born to Wiley and Millie Looney on December 31, 1933, in Collierville, Tennessee. Gloria married a Texan, Charles W. Bridges, on September 4, 1950, in Collierville and moved to Texas, where they raised three daughters. She retired as a Food Service Manager for twenty years from the Weatherford ISD. She spent her summer months in Montana, perfecting her love of painting beautiful scenery. Holiday dinners with Gloria were always a special event where her pies were what the family waited for. In the 2017 Parker County Peach Festival Bake cook-off, she won first place and Best in Show for her Peach Cobbler at 84.

Gloria was preceded in death by her husband, Mst. Sgt. Charles W. Bridges, Ret. USAF and her parents, Wiley and Millie Looney.

Left to honor Gloria’s memory are her daughters, Cheryl Heartsill and husband Sam Heartsill of Weatherford, daughter Charla Spinler and husband Dan Spinler of Weatherford, Texas, with granddaughter Jennifer K. Spinler, Ph.D. and husband John Mizell, and great-grandchildren Jared and Jenna, all of Pearland, Texas, grandson Sr. Chief Wes Spinler Ret.USN and wife Sara and great-granddaughters Makayla and McKenzie, all of Laurel, Montana, daughter Jan Miller and granddaughter Taylor Tune and husband Matt Tune and great-granddaughter Charlie Faye Tune, grandson Clinton Miller all of Weatherford, Texas.

Gloria is survived by three brothers, Glenn Looney of Hot Springs, Arkansas, Lynn Looney, and Warren Looney, both of Weatherford, Texas, and many nieces and nephews, and her Boston Terrier Bailey.

Gloria will be honored in a private family celebration of life.

In addition, donations may be made to the Weatherford Animal Shelter, American Heart Association, or St. Stephens Catholic Church of Weatherford, Texas.
