Grant Steele Maples departed this world on May 4, 2015.
He was born in Fort Worth, TX on September 17, 1963 to Don Maples and Shirley Richardson Maples. His family, including his sister Judith and brother John, moved to Abilene in 1969.
After graduating from Abilene Cooper High School, Grant attended Texas Tech University, earning his BBA in Finance. He had a long career as a banker and oil and gas lending executive.
Grant married Susanna Stroud, also of Abilene, on Aug. 5, 1995. They lived in Abilene before moving to Fort Worth in 1997. They have two beautiful children who were Grant’s greatest pride, Jackson Steele and Campbell Grace. His faith was very important to him, and most recently he was an active member with Grace Lutheran Church in Carollton.
Grant was an accomplished golfer and outdoors man, passing his adventurous spirit along to his children. His giving nature carries on long after his earthly life through his beautiful gift of organ donation.
He is survived by his wife Susanna and their children, Jackson and Campbell; father, Don Maples and wife Betty of Weatherford; sister Judith Maples, brother-in-law Nalin Kumar and their daughter Annalyn of Fort Worth; brother John Maples of Houston and his son Brandt; mother in law Sausan Anderson Stroud of Abilene, brother and sister-in-law John and Susan Ann Stroud of Frisco and their children Grace, Sophie, and Lucas; brother and sister-in-law Carl and Nicole Stroud of Aledo and their daughter AnniePearl, mother in law, Susan Anderson Stroud of Abilene.
A memorial service celebrating Grant’s life will be held at 11am on Monday, May 11 at University Christian Church, located at 2720 S. University Dr., Fort Worth, TX 76109.
