Gwendolyn Childers

Gwendolyn (Gwen) Childers, 86, of Weatherford left this world on April 6, 2015 after a long and debilitating illness.

She was born in Lubbock, Texas in 1928 and lived in and around Weatherford for many of the last years of her life. She was a wonderful caring mother to her daughter, Sandra Long, and son Tray Childers. Her numerous friends will remember her as a quiet, gentle person who loved to crochet, work with her flowers and watch the birds she fed and studied religiously.
 
She leaves behind her daughter, Sandra and husband Kenney Long of Weatherford, her grandchildren, Donna Wilcox, James Bass, Larry Long, Cam Childers, and Tracey McCune Childers, 6 great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends who will miss her greatly. Her family was her greatest joy and bragging about them was part of all her conversations.
 
She was preceded in death by her husband, James T. Childers, her son, Tray Childers, her granddaughter, Allison Long, and her mother Bessie Loggins. This world will not be as bright without her.
 

Visitation will be from 6-8 pm Wednesday at Galbreaith Pickar. Service to be held at 2:00 PM on Thursday, April 9, 2015 at Galbrealth-Pickard Funeral Chapel, 913 N Elm, Weatherford, TX. Burial at Long Creek Cemetery.
