Hannelore R. Bautz

  Hannelore R. (Renate) Bautz, age 92, passed away peacefully on June 18, 2024. Our beloved Mother, Mother-in-Law and Grandmother was born in Fulda, Germany, on February 1, 1932, and moved to the United States in the early 1950s. 

  Following a long career at Volkswagen of America in Ft. Worth, Texas, she retired as a logistics specialist. Renate loved swimming and being outside, taking care of her pets, and gardening. She enjoyed continuing education classes including woodworking and brick laying and working around the house on various projects. 

  Renate married the love of her life, Tony Bautz, in 1961 while he was stationed at Rhein Main Air Base in Germany. They were married for over 60 years. Renate and Tony loved to travel throughout the United States, Canada, Mexico, Europe, Singapore, Australia, New Zealand, and many South Pacific islands. New Zealand was one of their favorite places in the world. Together they traveled and photographed all 254 County Courthouses in Texas. She had been residing in Willow Park and Parker County, Texas for the past 47 years prior to her passing. 

  She is survived by her son, Andrew Bautz and wife, Lisa Bautz, and grandson, Blake Bautz of Dallas; her sister, Marliese Bailey of Frankfurt, Germany, and nephews, Alex and wife, Regina, and Peter Illyes, and their families, all of Ft. Worth, Texas. Renate was preceded in death by her husband, Tony; her son, Thomas Bautz; sister-in-law, Sylvia Illyes; and nephew, Istvan Illyes.

  Renate will be remembered for her warmth, great sense of humor, intelligence and elegance. She was a caring woman who loved her friends and family with all her heart. She will be deeply missed. 

  Renate will be interred at Dallas-Ft. Worth National Cemetery alongside her husband, Tony, on Friday, September 13, 2024, at 3:00 p.m.
