Harold William Whitling Jr., 78, of Weatherford, Texas went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, April 23, 2014.
Harold was born December 11, 1935 in Eastland County to Harold and Jewell Whitling. He joined the United States Army in 1955 and met a lifelong friend in Tom Bridges. Upon returning home he met the love of his life Wanda Day. They were married March 5, 1960 in Kermit, Texas.
He had many careers during his lifetime but retired from 7-eleven after 25 years of service. He was a faithful member of South Side Baptist Church in Weatherford, Texas. He loved to cook and did so often for his family and friends. He loved camping and spent many summers with his family at one of his favorite places, Willow Creek, Colorado.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Wanda Whitling; children, Dewayne Whitling and wife, Kelly of Terrell, Texas, Sara Yingst of Weatherford, Sam Whitling and wife, Rene of Weatherford, son, Glen Whitling and wife, Sherri of Weatherford; 12 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren; sister, Mary Leonard and husband, Dave of Hobbs, New Mexico, sister, Wanda Buffington and husband, Bob of College Station, Texas and sister, Betty Venegas and husband, Arturo of Kermit, Texas and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Jewell Whitling; brothers, Chuckie and Jim Whitling and son-in-law, Jim Yingst.
In lieu of flowers, the family request that donations be made in Harold’s honor to one of the two organizations that touch his family: American Diabetes Association or Breast Cancer Society.
Memorial services Friday, April 25, 2014, South Side Baptist Church in Weatherford Texas at 2 pm.
