Henry Clayton (HC) Yeats, age 89, passed away October 7, 2024, in Weatherford, Texas. Henry was born May 27, 1935, to Vanoy Cherry and Willie J. Yeats, in Weatherford, Texas.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Oma Belle Peters; and two brothers, Ellsworth and Bill Yeats.
HC graduated from Weatherford High School, and retired from the U.S. Postal Service in 1990 after 34 years of service.
HC and Wanda Hinkle Harberger were married in 1960 and celebrated their 64th anniversary on March 31 of this year. Both HC and Wanda are members of First Baptist Church of Weatherford, where they were very active for many years before their declining health.
Henry loved his family so much and although he never had children of his own, he treated Wanda’s daughter, Martha, and her children as his own; he became her step-dad when she was nine years old.
He was a wonderful grandfather, great-grandfather and great-great grandfather.
Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife, Wanda; daughter, Martha Reeves (Jack); granddaughter, Amy Sexton (Mike); grandson, Ryan Peacock (Amanda); great grandsons, Cody Sexton (Chandler), Dalton Sexton (Cassidy), and Brazos Peacock; and great granddaughter, Paisley Peacock; and great-great grandson, Cash Ray Sexton.
The family would like to thank the staff at Hilltop Nursing Center and Reliant Hospice for the care they took of our loved one.
A graveside service will be held October 9, 2024, at 10:30 a.m., where he will be laid to rest in the East Greenwood Cemetery.
