Howard Glen Carter, age 88, passed away on Wednesday, May 15, 2024. He was born on August 31, 1935, to Jack Carter and Gladys Wilson Kline. Howard led a fulfilling life marked by dedication and hard work.
 
Throughout his storied life, Howard demonstrated a strong work ethic that he shared with family. His professional journey included ventures in the Pawn Shop business in Denton, Texas during the late 1960s. In 1972, he relocated to Port Isabel, Texas where he and his wife ran a gift shop until 1979. The family then moved to Stephenville, Texas in 1980 where they raised their children before settling in Harlingen, Texas in 1987.
 
In 1988, Howard embarked on a scrap metal business alongside his son that thrived until his retirement in 2000. For the last five years of his life, he resided in Weatherford, Texas. One of his proudest accomplishments was his enduring marriage of 52 years.
 
Howard is survived by his son, Howard Craig Carter and his wife, Carolyn of Weatherford, Texas; daughter, Candiss Carter of Harlingen, Texas; grandchildren, Cooper Leanne Carter, Mackenzie Lynn Carter, Carter Wick, and Cade Wick. He is reunited with his wife, Glenna Lee Carter; father, Jack Carter; mother, Gladys Kline; and two brothers, Bill Carter and Floyd Kline.
 
A memorial service to celebrate Howard's life will be held at 10:00 a.m., on Saturday, May 25, 2024, at the Galbreaith Pickard Funeral Chapel in Weatherford, Texas. May his memory be a source of comfort and inspiration to all who knew him.
