Hoye Lavarh Smith

October 22, 1921 — November 20, 2007

  Hoye Lavarh Smith, 86, of Aledo, died Tuesday, November 20, 2007, in a local nursing facility. Born October 22, 1921, in Longview, he was a resident of Parker County for many years. Hoye owned and operated Smitty’s Barber Shop in Plainview, Texas, and was a member of First Baptist Church of Willow Park where he served as a Deacon. Hoye enjoyed woodworking, fishing, and spending time with his grandchildren. 

  He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Sylvia Smith of Aledo; daughters, Particia Avants and husband, Marvin of Aledo, and Kathleen James and husband, Randall of Austin; sisters, Kemp Brasher of Camden, Arkansas and Quessie Jackson of Hereford, Texas; grandchildren, Greg Avants, Allison Dredla, and Amanda Jackson; great grandchildren, Jared Avants, Ashley Avants, and Taylor Dredla.  

  Graveside service: 2:30 p.m., Friday, November 23, 2007, in the DFW National Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Thursday, at Galbreaith Pickard Funeral Chapel.
