Hubert Preston Fletcher, Jr. was hatched on May 26, 1933. He had an important place to be on Sunday, March 1, 2020, so he utilized his professional possum playing skills to remain in his bed for the previous six days.
He was preceded on this last journey by his wife of 61 years, Dovie L. Fletcher. He is survived by three daughters and their families: Tina Williams of Weatherford, Becky and Reid Crutsinger of Weatherford, and Marsha Wilson of Waco;12 grandchildren, and two great-grand daughters; and his brothers, CB Fletcher of Baytown and Tom Fletcher of Granbury; and at least two hungry foxes he regarded and fed as pasture pets.
To his heirs he leaves behind: a collection of brain teaser puzzles, a craftsman quality stool sample, an elephant key, a set of mind-reading number cards, his pet rocks, an unopened package of Leaf Only chewing tobacco from TN and one untouched strawberry blizzard.
A time of hoopla, story telling and joke swapping will be hosted by his family Friday, March 6 from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., at the South Main Street Church of Christ, Weatherford, Texas.
A not-so-sedate funeral service will be held Saturday, March 7, at 2:00 p.m., at the South Main Street Church of Christ, Weatherford Texas.
Finally, to the kind and patient patrons of Dairy Queen and Mary’s Café, he wanted you all to know that you still cannot put your left shoe on first because no matter which one you put on first, the other one is always left.
