Ina Nicholson Davis was born July 11, 1937, to Hood and Ita Nicholson. She passed from this life Saturday, December 12, 2020.
Ina Davis was a person of many talents and adventures. As a child, she grew up on her parents’ farm in Brock, Texas, where she learned to drive a tractor at age 9, and became an all-state basketball player in her teens. After high school, she attended beauty school and later worked as a beautician at the Baker Hotel in Mineral Wells during its heyday. Ina also worked as a teacher’s aide for many years, where her love for children and serving others shined.
On October 12, 1957, Ina married her husband of sixty-two years, John Davis. They lived in Weatherford, Texas, and raised three children, Karen, Debra, and Sharla. They were members of the North Main Church of Christ.
Ina lived with an open heart and an open home, showing hospitality to family and friends, old and new, with great skill and grace. She filled her home and family with good things: faith in God, love for one another, and countless homemade meals and desserts.
She was known for using her many talents to serve others and make them feel special. All who knew her were blessed by her.
Ina was preceded in death by her parents, Hood and Ita Nicholson; her husband, John Davis; and her brothers, Floyd and Harold Nicholson.
Ina is survived by her sisters, Aline Johnston, Sharon Zinn, and Carolyn Nicholson, as well as her daughters, Karen Hernandez and her husband, Pat; Debra Mead and her husband, Scott; Sharla Andrews and her husband, David. Ina was also a proud grandmother to Michael and Maegan Andrews, Rebekah and Blake Dugger, Russel and Chelsea Andrews, Matthew and Karissa Mead, Tyler Hernandez, Stephen and Alissa Mead, Hannah Andrews, and numerous great-grandchildren. She is also survived by many other friends and family whom she loved dearly.
