Ira Wayne Privette, age 76, passed from this life on Wednesday, May 31, 2023. He was born October 27, 1946, in Concord, North Carolina to Charlie Adoffice Privette and Lila Ruth Chunn Privette. Wayne served in the United States Navy for 9 years, including 3 tours of duty in the brown water navy in Viet Nam. After the Navy, Wayne worked as a carpenter and later entered into the oil industry starting out as a roughneck and very quickly working his way up to drilling consultant. After retirement, his wife, Sue, drew the plans for the house she wanted and Wayne built it for her with only the help of his two sons and his father-in-law. Wayne had a great sense of humor and he most loved spending time with his grandkids, sharing stories, joking and making memories. He also enjoyed working with the land and was particularly proud of his pecan trees where it is his wish that his ashes will be spread. He will be deeply missed.
Wayne was preceded in death by his parents, Charlie and Lila Privette; siblings, Charles Privette, Larry Privette, Phillip Privette, Eileen Privette Cudd; daughter, Stephanie Wynn Vanderzwart; and stepson, Melvin Brunson.
Wayne is survived by his beloved wife, Linda Sue Frazier Privette of Weatherford, Texas; son, Steven Wayne Vanderzwart; son, Donald Wayne Privette; daughter, Samantha Robin Privette Norris; stepson, Paul Brunson; stepson, Wayne Brunson; stepson, David Brunson; stepson, Christopher Frazier: grandchildren, Tracy, Amanda, Amber, Joshua, Chloe, Kit, Silas, and Alice; great-grandchildren, Maddison, Alexis, Sophie, Anthony, Reyna, Everly, Sunny, Parker, Walker, and Ryder; sisters, Sonja "Susie" Haferkamp and Hope Smith; nephew, J.R. Cudd; niece, Chelly Cudd Blakely; and numerous other nieces and nephews whom he loved.
