Isabel Maynard

November 6, 1934 — May 15, 2017

Isabel Wilks Maynard of Parker County, passed away May 15, 2017. She was born at her home, in Tyler, on November 6, 1934 to Oscar C. Wilks and Lucile Virginia McCardle Wilks. Isabel was a member of Silver Creek United Methodist Church of Azle, where she was instrumental in forming and managing the food bank as well as serving in many other capacities within the church. She married Kenneth Penelton Maynard on April 11, 1952 in Fort Worth. She and Kenneth raised their three children in the Poolville Community from 1958-1974 before moving to Clinton, Arkansas to live and prosper in the mountains. They returned to Parker County in 1986 to be close to family. Isabel worked as business manager for her son, Wes, at the Mesquite Pit from 1993 to 2013. She loved her family with her whole heart and never forgot to send birthday cards to family and friends. She always attended her children and grandchildren’s sporting events and was the matriarch for all family events and reunions. Efficient and organized, everyone relied on her ability to get things done. Very special thank you to our cousin and mom’s caregiver Mary Place for all the love and care she gave mom.
Isabel is survived by three children, Debra Lynn Maynard Hearne and husband Ricky of Henderson, Robert Wesley Maynard and wife Robin of Peaster and Richard Kirk Maynard of Clinton, Arkansas; seven grandchildren, Sam and Jeremy Canafax, Jake, Caleb and Sarah Maynard, Donald, Nathan and Justin Maynard; 10 great grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Kenneth, brother, CB Wilks and her sisters, Patsy Wilks Ivey, Martha Wilks Dykes and Dorothy Wilks.
Funeral: 2:30 p.m, Sunday, May 21, 2017 at the Tabernacle of Poolville Cemetery.
