Janie Moore, 79, passed peacefully from this life on November 11, 2024, with her family by her side. Born December 21, 1944, to JW and Susie Berkley, Janie was the youngest of six children and spent her entire life in Weatherford, Texas. With her deep roots and a love for her hometown, she resided across the street from the family home where she was raised.
Janie married her high school sweetheart, Ryke Moore, beginning a family filled with love and warmth. Though they parted ways in 2002, they remained lifelong friends.
Janie worked for many years in the banking industry, later joining Better Health, where she had the joy of working alongside her sister. She delighted in trips to Las Vegas and cherished weekend getaways to Possum Kingdom. An avid gardener, Janie followed in her parents' footsteps by tending a garden, canning her harvest, and sharing her passion for cooking with her daughters, passing down treasured family recipes.
Janie adored her pets, who were her steadfast companions over the years: her dogs, Desiree, Scarlett, and Dakota, and her cats, Jonah and Heidi. More recently, her beloved dog, Callie, brought her joy on their daily walks through her pasture, where they would sit together, savoring the peaceful moments.
Four years ago, Janie began showing signs of dementia, a difficult journey for her and her loved ones. After a fall at home, she was hospitalized on September 21. Despite several surgeries and courageous efforts to recover, her health continued to decline. Honoring her wish to be at home, her family moved her into hospice care on November 6, where she spent her final days surrounded by love.
Janie is survived by her daughter, Robbin Moore Hood and husband, Jeff; her devoted sister and best friend, Rosalind Lamb; her sister-in-law, Vickie Moore Young and son, Eli; and her son-in-law, Juston Shreves. Special gratitude goes to her nephew, Brad Lamb and wife, Amanda, who lovingly stayed by her side during her hospice care. She also leaves behind two grandsons, five great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews, who will carry her memory forward.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her ex-husband, Ryke Moore; and her eldest daughter, Tammye Shreves, who passed away just six months ago.
Janie was deeply loved and will be missed by many. Her family welcomes your prayers during this time of loss.
