J. V. Burdett, Jr.

J.V. Burdett, Jr. 83, died Monday, January 15, 2007 at his residence. Born September 22, 1923 in Borden County, he was a resident of Parker County for the past few years, a retired farmer and a member of Brock Baptist Church. J.V. became a Christian as a young boy and placed his membership at First Baptist Church of O’Donnell, Texas and later taught Sunday School. He attended Texas Tech University and ran on the track team until he joined the US Army during WWII, where he was a runner carrying messages between enemy lines during the war. J.V. loved to hunt, fish, play dominoes and golf his nickname was Birdie. He enjoyed helping people, never met a stranger and was a forgiving, unconditional loving Father and Husband.  J.V. is survived by is wife of 62 years, Marjorie Burdett of Weatherford; daughter, Sally Neff and husband John of Brock; son, Steve Burdett and wife Debbie of Weatherford; grandchildren, Brian Burdett, Brittany Irons and husband Grant and Brandon Neff. Funeral Service: 2:00 PM, Thursday, January 18, 2007 in Brock Baptist Church with Rev. Jesse Tunnell officiating. Interment will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Brock Baptist Church Missions Fund. Galbreaith Pickard Funeral Chapel in charge of arrangements
