James "Buddy" Luther Wilson

November 25, 1940 — March 30, 2023

James (Buddy) Luther Wilson, 82, passed peacefully from this life on Thursday, March 30, 2023. Buddy was born November 25, 1940, in Arden, Arkansas to Ivan Wilson and Edna (Rogers) Wilson.

Moving to Weatherford in 1968, he worked on helicopters at Walters Air Force base and the F111 assembly line at General Dynamics. He owned Buddy’s Appliance and was in the business for over 50 years, most of which he worked alongside his oldest son James. He loved his co-workers and his customers. Buddy was quick to make you laugh and even quicker to help if you were in need.

On the rare occasion that he wasn’t working, he could usually be found reading the paper or watching a Cowboys or Rangers game. At home, he often kept a guitar handy and would randomly break into his favorite Elvis or Johnny Cash song, except with his own version of the lyrics.

Buddy is survived by his beloved wife of 34 years, Pat Wilson of Weatherford, Texas; sons, James L. Wilson and Jason Cargill; daughter-in-law, Joanna Cargill; grandchildren, Anna Marie Wilson, Avery Cargill, and Will Cargill; sisters, Rose Wood and Louise White; and numerous nieces and nephews.

If you have a story or fond memory of Buddy, please share in the comments for all to enjoy.

Buddy was not one for crowds, so no funeral will be held. Instead, he would want you to make a visit to spend time with your own family. He will be greatly missed.
