James Edgar Freeman

James Edgar Freeman of Weatherford, Texas, formerly of Fort Worth, Texas, passed from this earth into the arms of our heavenly Father on Saturday, January 16, 2021. He was born February 2, 1934, in Eastland, Texas, to John Arthur Freeman and Edna Davis Freeman. On December 17, 1955 he married Sammie Jean Barnett. This past December they celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary. 

James was the former Owner and President of Scottish Inns of Texas. He was a police officer in Tucson, Arizona while he attended the University of Arizona. While studying Petroleum Engineering at Texas Tech, James was drafted into the U.S. Army. He later continued his career as a senior executive at Connecticut General in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, and American Street Lighting in Southhaven, Mississippi. James loved his family, his church, and the ranch he shared with Sammie. His wife and family were the center of his world. 

He is survived by his wife, Sammie; and children, Ralph Freeman, Rex Freeman, Randy Freeman, and Missy Fralia. He was the proud grandfather to 14 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. He is also survived by one brother, Billy Freeman. 

He was preceded by his parents, John Arthur and Edna Freeman; his brother, John Freeman; sisters, Opal Roper and Imogene Watkins; and son, Rodney Arthur Freeman. 

Visitation will be Tuesday, January 19th, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., at Galbreaith Pickard Funeral Chapel, in Weatherford, Texas. Memorial Services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, January 20th, at Grace Community Fellowship Church, located at 111 West Ranch Lane, Weatherford, Texas 76087. Burial will be held on Friday, January 22nd, at 10:00 a.m., at Fellowship Baptist Church, in Dubach, Louisiana.
