James Harold Thompson, Jr.

Retired SFC James Harold Thompson Jr., age 74, of Hudson Oaks, passed peacefully at Riverside Oxford Memory Care of Fort Worth, on Tuesday, November 1, 2022. James was born May 2, 1948, in Plainview, Texas to James Harold Thompson, Sr. and Martha Jo (Tamplen) Thompson.

James was very patriotic and proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War from 1968-1969. James then continued to serve his country for the next 30 years by enlisting in the Texas National Guard where he was assigned to the 249th SIG BN of Fort Worth until he retired in 1997. James also retired as a civil service technician at OMS #15 of Fort Worth.

James loved the outdoors and never turned down a fishing trip. He was an amazing mechanic and gave the true meaning to “If James can’t fix it, then nobody can.” He was a devoted husband, father, papa, and friend. James will be thoroughly missed by all who knew him.

James was preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, Sharron Thompson. James is survived by his daughter, Dana Abdullah and husband, Raheem; son, James Harold Thompson, III and wife, Teia; grandchildren, Jayden Abdullah, Myles Abdullah, Deaglan Thompson, Maelechlainn Thompson, Caoilainn Thompson, Finnegan Thompson, and Liam Thompson; and great grandchild, Kinsley Rose Thompson.

A graveside service is scheduled for 10:00 a.m., Friday, November 11, 2022, at East Greenwood Cemetery, Weatherford, Texas.
