James Horton Edington, 79, of Ranger, Texas, passed away on November 9, 2017, after a brief illness. A memorial visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., Saturday, December 2, 2017, at Galbreaith Pickard Hilltop Chapel, 4941 I-20 Frontage Road, Willow Park, Texas 76087.
Jim was born, January 20, 1938, near McGregor, Texas to Bill and Lorraine Edington. He was the oldest of four children. Jim joined the Air Force during the VietNam Era and served two hitches as a cryptographer for NSA. His professional life included law enforcement, prison administration and management positions in the oilfield service industry.
He was a talented and multi-faceted man that never met a stranger, was respected for his honesty, responsibility and sense of fairness. Jim had a gentle heart and a great sense of humor. He loved his family and was the unspoken patriarch. We will miss you forever.
Besides his parents, Jim was preceded in death by his brother, William “Scooter” Edington.
Jim is survived by his wife, Janet Atchley Edington of Ranger; children, Reesa Farlis of Goldsmith, Duane Edington of Ft. Worth, and Kip Edington of Willow Park; seven grandchildren and three great grandchildren; sister, Jeanette Edington; brother, Henry Edington; as well as a son from a previous marriage, James Hundley.
