James Langford, age 83, of the Authon Community, died early Monday morning, July 1, 2013 in a local nursing facility. Born October 29, 1929 in Brandon, Texas and he was a resident of Authon and Parker County for many years. James was a retired maintenance supervisor for the Coca Cola Bottling Company, former Chief of the Authon Volunteer Fire Department, member of the Methodist Church, a U. S. Marine Veteran of the Korean War earning the Bronze Star. He loved fiddle music and playing the guitar at jams with family and friends. For many years he traveled the state to play at Texas Old Time Fiddlers Association contests. He was preceded in death by a son, Robert Langford and his parents, Lucile and Horace Langford, Sr.
Survivors include his wife, Wanda Langford of Authon; daughter, Alice Youngblood of Weatherford; brother, M. H. Langford, Jr. of Weatherford; grandchildren, April Williams, Clay Youngblood, Crystal Youngblood, Tori Rutledge, Cara Tayon and Brandon Langford; seven great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. Close friend and brother-in-law, Ronald Walker and numerous nieces and nephews.
Graveside service will be held at 10:30 AM, Wednesday, July 3, 2013 in the Authon Cemetery.
Visitation will be 6-8 PM, Tuesday, July 2, 2013 at the funeral home.
