James Ryan Neighbors, 31, of Aledo, left this world on Saturday, December 26, 2020, in Fort Worth, Texas. James was born July 12, 1989, in Lynchburg, Virginia, to James Marion Neighbors, Jr. and Carolyn Diogo Neighbors.
James was an alumni and brother of both the Texas Kappa and Texas Rho chapters of Sigma Phi Epsilon Fraternity. He proudly served in the U.S. Army and U.S. Marine Corps and was medically retired from active duty in November 2013. He was also a member of First Baptist Church of Arlington, Texas.
One of his greatest passions was living the Children’s Medical Center motto of “Making life better for children.” James received his Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Texas at Arlington in 2019. In 2020, he completed the Vizient Graduate Nurse Residency Program in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at Children’s Medical Center in Dallas, Texas. After completing residency, he continued to serve as a nurse in the NICU at Children’s' Medical Center, where he found joy in caring for the most vulnerable infants and their families.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Michael S. Diogo, Jr, Joan Diogo, and James Marion Neighbors, Sr.
James is survived by his wife, Kimberly Kristin Neighbors of Aledo, Texas; children, Ryan Elizabeth Neighbors of Aledo, Texas, and Daniel James Russo Neighbors of Clayton, Delaware; parents, James Marion Neighbors, Jr. of Ephrata, Pennsylvania, and Carolyn Neighbors of Alpharetta, Georgia; grandmother, Stella Neighbors of Middletown, Delaware; aunts and uncles, Angel Keller of Cocoa Beach, Florida, Donna Diogo of Tennessee, John Neighbors of Middleton, Delaware, and Michael Diogo of Baja California, Mexico.
Details regarding services will be provided at a later date. In the interim, and in lieu of flowers, in memory of James, donations may be made to Children’s Medical Center of Dallas.
