James Duane Tabor

  James Duane Tabor, a native member of the Weatherford community, passed away on Saturday, June 15, 2024, at the age of 85. Born on March 15, 1939, in Weatherford, Duane leaves behind a legacy of kindness, generosity, and unwavering love that will forever be treasured by his family and friends.

  He is survived by his devoted wife of 30 years, Thresea Ann Tabor. Duane was a dedicated father to his step daughters, Katharine Grudt (Darren) and Becky Glenn (Jimmy), whom he raised with love and care. Fondly known as Beepaw to his grandchildren, Parker Grudt (Payton), Maggie Beaird (Jake), Emily Grudt, and Major Glenn, and great granddaughter, Locklyn Ames Grudt; he found joy in their presence, and shared his love for the outdoors with them through his passion for hunting and fishing.

  Mr. Tabor was renowned for his strong work ethic and dedication to his community as the principal of James Bowie Elementary School. A respected member of the First Methodist Church, he made a lasting impact on all who had the pleasure of knowing him.

  The visitation in memory of Mr. Tabor will take place on Wednesday, June 19, 2024, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., at Galbreaith Pickard Funeral Chapel, 913 N Elm St, Weatherford, Texas. A graveside service will follow on Thursday, June 20, 2024, starting at 10:00 a.m., at the Peaster Cemetery.

  As we remember and celebrate the life of Mr. Tabor, let us hold dear the memories we shared with him and find comfort in the impact he had on our lives. May Duane rest in peace knowing that he was cherished by many.
