Janice Gwendolyn Smith

  Janice Gwendolyn Smith, age 81, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 20, 2024. She was born on December 2, 1942, in Lampasas, Texas, to Melvin E. and Tallulah (Quarles) Smith.

  Throughout her life, Janice had a successful career in the industrial food industry, retiring from Pangburn’s Candy Factory and Mrs. Baird’s. 

  A devoted Christian, she found great joy in reading her Bible, traveling to the mountains, capturing beautiful photographs, and supporting the Dallas Mavericks. Janice also loved her pets and cherished the companionship of her dogs and cats.

  She was preceded in death by her parents, Melvin and Tallulah Smith of Dennis, Texas; brother, James Smith; and nephew, Clint Bratcher.

  Janice is survived by her sister, Alva Bratcher of Weatherford, Texas; nephews, Chad Bratcher, Chuck Bratcher, and wife, Sara, Cody Bratcher, Ricky Smith and wife, Jill, and Jimmy Smith and wife, Rhonda. She will be dearly missed and remembered fondly by her family and friends.

  A graveside service will be held at Buckner Cemetery, southeast of Dennis, Texas, on Monday, November 25, 2024, at 2:00 p.m., officiated by Brian Leatherman.
