Janifer (Jan) Bangert Barton 65, a Weatherford, Texas resident since 1980. Jan was a community servant who met her Lord and Savior on June 24, 2016, she left this earth peacefully after a long illness. Jan’s legacy will live on in her children and grandchildren, who lovingly called her ‘Nana’. She had a great compassion for people in need and friends say she impacted many lives through her acts of kindness & caring.
A former business owner and City of Weatherford Councilwoman from May 2003 to May 2012. Her love for this community led her to serve on the City of Weatherford Parks and Recreation Board, Transportation Advisory Board and the Citizens Capital Advisory Committee. She also served as Parker County Republican Precinct Chair. Jan was a vital part of Bush Legacy Republican Women of Weatherford, a member of Beta Sigma Pi of Weatherford, Board Member Weatherford ISD Education Foundation.
Jan had a great (sometimes loud) passion for her Chicago Bears and Chicago Cubs, as well as NASCAR. Jan was a dedicated Republican, who worked tirelessly on many campaigns locally and across the nation. She traveled to Florida with the “Texas Strike Force” for President George W. Bush. She later received an invitation to dinner at the White House with The President & Laura Bush. This was one of many highlights in her life. Jan was often part of the “Welcome Home” for our military personnel at DFW airport.
The family asks that those attending services help celebrate Jan’s life by wearing Red, White and Blue to honor her country. Jan was born in Coffeeville, KS to Garner (GW) & Helen Jacobs Bangert and lived in Naperville, Il. She was preceded in death by her parents, and husband Dan Barton. Survivors include Daughter Michelle Breyne Hernandez, Son Mathew Breyne, Step Daughter Dawn Baldwin and husband Cary, Step Son Danny and Jennifer Barton. Grandchildren include Hayden, Gavin and Ella Hernandez, Logan & Grant Baldwin, Tyler and Travis Barton. Gabby her fur baby and numerous friends across the country.
The family will receive visitors at Galbreaith Pickard Funeral Chapel, Friday July 1st from 5:00-6:30. Services are scheduled at Trinity Lutheran Church in Weatherford, Texas 10 AM, Saturday July 2, 2016. Rev. Kenneth Watson officiating.
Interment will be in Evergreen Cemetery under the direction of Lummis Hamilton Funeral Home, Camp Point, Illinois, July 6th at 10 AM .
In lieu of flowers the family request donation in Jan’s name be made to The Parker County Health Foundations “Pink Luncheon” 220 Palo Pinto St. Weatherford, Texas 76086
