J.B. (Sonny) Bowles, Jr., 83, passed from this life on Monday, February 6, 2023. J.B. was born January 5, 1940, in Fort Worth, Texas to parents, J.B. Bowles, Sr. and Opal Lucille (Driggers) Bowles. As a small child JB was given the nickname Son by his mother because he was the only boy of three beautiful sisters, that name stuck with him as grew and everyone knew him as Sonny. Sonny grew up in Benbrook, Texas where he attended school and worked at his family’s Mobile gas station. In 1957 Sonny joined the United States Air Force and proudly served his country until 1963, receiving a Good Conduct metal. Following his military career, he worked in the aircraft manufacturing industry as a Flight Mechanic traveling all over the World. Sonny retired from Lockheed Martin in 2005. In his retired years, you could find him driving around town with his dog Pokie. Anyone who knew Sonny knew he was always working; in his off time, he was farming, ranching, or fixing or helping someone fix something. Sonny was of the Christian faith. He enjoyed riding horses and roping, hanging out with his buddies, dancing and listening to music with Alice, and spending time with his kids working and teaching them. Sonny made sure he taught his children to work hard and be kind towards others. Lend a hand whenever the opportunity arose. Sonny and Alice celebrated their love of 51 years together on October 8, 2022. His love for life and caring disposition will be missed by all who were blessed to know him.

Sonny was preceded in death by his parents, J.B. Bowles, Sr., Opal Bowles, his sister Mary Jean Bowles, his brother-in-law D.K. Mason, and his son Lance Delton King Bowles.

Sonny leaves behind a living legacy of survivors who will sorely miss him and deeply remember him: his beloved wife, Alice Bowles of Aledo, three children, Jo Beth Ferland of Weatherford, J.B.
